Dawson City Seven
Published in Paperback by Goose Lane Editions (August, 1994)
Author: Don Reddick
Average review score:

Best hockey fiction ever!
When my father mentioned the book over Christmas a couple years back, he was taken aback by my rattling off of facts about the famous Dawson City Cup challenge around the turn of the century. I read his copy that night in a rush, and it is the finest work of hockey fiction ever. Reddick stands with Ken Dryden as the most evocative hockey writer living. I have an autographed copy of my own now, and treasure it highly.

Dawson's Guide to Colorado Backcountry Skiing, Volume 1
Published in Paperback by Blue Clover Pr (01 December, 2000)
Author: Louis W. Dawson II
Average review score:

Lou Dawson at his best.
No other backcountry skier has carved as many turns in this region as Lou Dawson. Furthermore, he has dedicated himself with the same level of perfection to assembling useful guidebooks, and COLORADO BACKCOUNTRY SKIING is the latest in a long line of classics. The maps are the best I've seen in any guidebook, the photographs are both art and information, and the text infinitely more revealing than that found in his predecessor guidebook, Colorado High Routes. This is a book useful for novices or extremists, afternoon tours or day-long descents. As if this isn't enough, with inimitable style, the trademark Dawson storytelling and insight gained from over three decades of hard-won backcountry experiences makes this book transcend the genre.

Dicho y hecho Beginning Spanish Fifth Edition and Student Cassette to Accompany Dicho y hecho Beginning Spanish Fifth Edition and Workbook to Accompany Dicho y hecho Fifth Edition Textbook
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (September, 1997)
Author: Laila M. Dawson
Average review score:

Best Progressive Instructional Spanish Text
Dicho y Hecho is clearly one of, if not the best, Spanish Text books on the market. It is skillfully structured to capture the attention from beginner level and gradually progresses in difficulty from chapter to chapter to the advanced stage. The book is easy to follow, with illustrations that are timely, pertinent and colourful, masterfully using visual recognition to further cement the new vocabulary at the center of successive chapters. This is a must buy for any one wishing to learn Spanish and its grammar and is also a good place for persons with an advanced aptitude but little practice to rebuild their skills. The accompanying workbook and cassette further augment listening and comprehension skills.

Never have I encountered a text that embodies the Spanish world and experience like this one. Es un libro de pura calidad!!

Don't Turn Your Back on the Ocean
Published in Paperback by Fawcett Books (October, 1995)
Author: Janet Dawson
Average review score:

especially fun if you know California's Central Coast
As a former resident of Monterey County, I enjoyed the references to familiar venues. The main character and her relationships to family (mother, cousins, aunts and uncles) and friends (and friends' pets!)are also of interest. The various plot aspects get a little choppy (clearing her cousin of murder charges while investigating sabotage at her mother's restaurant while supposedly on vacation from her private investigator job in Oakland) but the book kept me involved. This could be a good choice for beach reading, especially in California.

the Truckee is Reno
This book has beautiful photos. It is an amazing river, considering its short run. I bought this for my Dad, but (secretly) I wanted it for myself.
I wish there was more info on the Truckee Meadows ditches;...

funny, insightful story of growing older and wiser at age 15
Moonbeam Dawson does not like the hippie name his mother gave him. It says more about her than who he thinks he is at age 15 and he decides he must change it and declare some independence. He chooses Reid, hoping that will bring a little less unwanted drama into his life. Reid takes a step away from his warm, single-parent mother and begins to discover work, girls, heartache, and loyalty. We are enchanted with his journey, whether we are 15, 50, or even more.As Reid makes peace with his mother, the fact of his Native American father, and the quirkiness of his childhood, he reminds us that our roots are as important as our wings and that growing up requires both, with love.
